A Vital Clean Water Project in Tanzania: Uhai Water Project
The Problem: Finding Clean Water in (Sarame)Tanzania
Residents of Sarame village especially women and small kids previously faced a long walk to find any water source. Specifically, the community struggled to find safe drinking water within a short distance. the only available water source was about 6KM go and return. This scarcity directly impacted the health and hygiene of local families. Furthermore, the Goldenhill Vocational School required a reliable supply for its future students and also we used to depend on water cars to bring water from distance of 8KM inwhich we used the water for our permaculture project. Therefore, Jabungu Foundation launched a dedicated clean water project in Sarame village (Uhai water Project ) in 2023. This initiative aims to end the daily struggle for water in Sarame Village.
The Solution: Building Our Clean Water Project
We established the Uhai Water Project directly within the Goldenhill School compound. Specifically, the organization Lifetime Projects facilitated the underground water construction system. Furthermore, Active Human Adventure, under Director Mehdi, donated the clean and safe water tank and the advanced filtration system. Together, these partners created a modern clean water project in Sarame village. Currently, our filtration system operates successfully and provides high-quality water. Consequently, we have transformed the school into a hub for local health.
The Impact: Success of This Clean Water Project
Our Uhai Water Project currently serves both the school and the surrounding community. Specifically, we have established a dedicated water station at the nearby Catholic Church. We provide safe, filtered water every Sunday and Wednesday. Furthermore, our permaculture farm utilizes unfiltered water for a sustainable irrigation system. As a result, this clean water project maximizes every drop for both drinking and farming. This dual-use model ensures zero waste while supporting local food security.
Technical Excellence in Our Clean Water Project in Tanzania
Our system uses advanced technology to ensure long-term sustainability for Sarame. First, the borehole reaches deep into the water table for a reliable supply. Subsequently, the filtration system removes all harmful pathogens from the drinking water. Moreover, the massive storage tank keeps the water cool and safe for the community. Therefore, our Uhai Water Project meets international safety standards. This high-quality engineering ensures that the equipment remains functional for many years.
Reaching Sub-villages via Our Clean Water Project.
Our Uhai water project aims to serve every corner of the Sarame region. Specifically, we focus on reaching the sub-villages of Bulukeri, Kiteto, and Changarawe. These areas often face the greatest challenges in finding hydration. Currently, many residents travel to our central station at the Catholic Church. However, our future desire involves extending pipes directly to these neighborhoods. Consequently, we will save thousands of hours for local women and children.
Future Plans: Expanding Our Clean Water Project in Tanzania
We have ambitious goals to expand our clean water project in Tanzania as the school opens. First, we will ensure every student has direct access to safe drinking water daily. Subsequently, we hope to increase the number of distribution days for the local sub-villages. Specifically, we want to provide water more than twice a week. Furthermore, we are seeking partners to help increase our total storage capacity. Ultimately, our clean water project in Tanzania will bring life-changing hydration to every household nearby.
