Jabungu Food Security Initiative: Food Crop Farming in Tanzania

Jabungu Foundation drives sustainable change at Goldenhill Vocational School. We manage 8 acres of fertile land. Our team cultivates maize, cassava, groundnuts, and sunflowers. This project combats food insecurity for our students. We ensure every student eats well upon school opening.

Strengthening Food Crop Farming in Tanzania Through Education

Our farm serves as a living classroom. We currently utilize an active irrigation system. This system allows us to grow crops year-round. However, we aim to expand our reach. We have vast land ready for cultivation. We need a more advanced irrigation network. Better water access will double our production area.

Our Strategic Crop Mix

We select crops based on nutrition and resilience.

Maize and Cassava

These provide the primary energy for students.

Groundnuts

These add vital protein to every meal.

Sunflowers

These act as our primary cash crop and
provides cooking oil for us.

Economic Sustainability and Growth

After opening the school we will prioritize the needs of our students first. Then, sell the surplus harvest to local markets. This income funds essential school expenses. It will also supports Jabungu Foundation’s core missions. Currently, our dedicated camp members manage all labor. They work hard to maintain high agricultural standards.

Modernizing Food Crop Farming in Tanzania

Expansion is our next major milestone. We have the land and the passion. Now, we require technical partnerships to grow. A robust irrigation system is our top priority. This upgrade will transform more acres into productive fields. Join us as we build a food-secure future.
